Supported Remote Desktop RDP file settings

The following table includes the list of supported RDP file settings that you can use with the Remote Desktop clients. When configuring settings, check Client comparisons to see which redirections each client supports.

Determines whether a program starts automatically when you connect with RDP. This setting corresponds to the Program path and file name box on the Programs tab of the Remote Desktop Connection client. To specify an alternate shell, enter a valid path to an executable file for the value, for example ""C:\ProgramFiles\Office\word.exe"". This setting also determines the path or the alias of the Remote Application to be started at connection time if RemoteApplicationMode is enabled.

Note: The maximum value Remote Desktop can handle is 200.

Specifies pre-defined performance settings for the Remote Desktop session.

1 - Modem (56 Kbps).
2 - Low-speed broadband (256 Kbps - 2 Mbps).
3 - Satellite (2 Mbps - 16 Mbps with high latency).
4 - High-speed broadband (2 Mbps - 10 Mbps).
5 - WAN (10 Mbps or higher with high latency).
6 - LAN (10 Mbps or higher).
7 - Automatic bandwidth detection. Requires bandwidthautodetect.

By itself, this setting does nothing. When selected in the RDC GUI, this option changes several performance related settings (themes, animation, font smoothing, etcetera). These separate settings always overrule the connection type setting.

SuperPan allows the user to navigate a remote desktop in full-screen mode without scroll bars, when the dimensions of the remote desktop are larger than the dimensions of the current client window.
